Service Metrics Denton Recycling Center OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY Safety-Kleen Service Metrics Incident rates are the primary indicator of our safety performance, including: Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) – all work related injuries or illnesses, work restrictions, job transfers, or medical treatment beyond first-aid. Days Away Restricted Time (DART) – reflects the number of cases involving days away from work, restricted work activity, or transfers to another job. Lost Workday Incident Rate (LWDIR) – reflects the number of days away from work from all incidents reported. Experience Modification Rate (EMR) – calculated by our insurance provider and measuring Safety-Kleen's Health and Safety in comparison to other companies in the same industry. A rate of 1 is industry average. Since 2006, Safety-Kleen has seen an overall downward trend for TRIR, DART and LWDIR due to the implementation of key safety and awareness initiatives. LWDIR dropped by 28% during that period, while TRIR and DART both dropped by over 44%. With an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 1.0 being average, our EMR clearly reflects we are a company that strides for excellence. In the past six years, we have seen a continued improvement in our EMR going from a .77 in 2002 to .54 in 2011. Safety-Kleen's commitment to safety has vaulted us from being 23% better than other companies in our industry to being 46% better and demonstrates our continued efforts to improve in this area. As further testament to our safety efforts, Safety-Kleen has gone more than 2 years without a recordable injury by our Environmental Services Group, and our re-refineries have worked more than 3.8 million hours without a Lost Time Injury.
