Safety-Kleen Announces $100,000 Commitment to
American Heart Association “Start! Dallas Heart Walk”
2009 marks sixth consecutive year of support
PLANO, TX— Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. announced today that the company has committed to raise $100,000 for the 2009 American Heart Association “Start! Dallas Heart Walk.” The commitment represents the sixth consecutive year of Safety-Kleen’s strong support of the American Heart Association’s life-saving work.
“Safety-Kleen is firmly committed to its financial support of the American Heart Association and the vital work that they do,” said Frederick J. Florjancic, president and CEO of Safety-Kleen. “Our participation in this event demonstrates our commitment to wellness and healthy lifestyles. Safety-Kleen is proud to support Heart Walk in 2009 and is looking forward to meeting and exceeding our fundraising goals for this year.”
In addition to the company’s support, Florjancic also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association’s Dallas Division. Beginning July 1, 2009, he will serve as the Board’s Chairman.
Heart Walk is the signature fundraising effort for the American Heart Association. The Dallas event raised more than $2.8 million in 2008, and the organization has set a 2009 goal of $3.4 million. Safety-Kleen has raised $558,872 over the past five years.

According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease and stroke are the number one and number three killers of Americans, respectively. Seventy percent of Americans do not get enough exercise, blaming lack of time and motivation. The Heart Walk event promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment.
The 2009 “Start! Dallas Heart Walk” is scheduled for September 12, and will feature more than 180 Dallas-area companies and organizations on the three-mile walk through downtown Dallas.
