PLANO, TX – Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc., a leading North American provider of environmental services and industrial solutions, announced the sale of its solvent recycling facilities in Chicago, IL, and Hebron, OH, to Clean Harbors for $12.5 million in cash, as well as the assumption of approximately $3 million in environmental liabilities.
“Although our strategic plan is to pursue acquisitions to accelerate our growth, realize operating synergies and enhance our market position, selling off non-core or underutilized assets will also help us realize operating synergies,” said Frederick J. Florjancic, CEO and president of Safety-Kleen. “We are confident that our acquisition and divestiture activities better position us for both the near and long-term outlook.”
