In December of 2006, the employees at Safety-Kleen’s Breslau Used Oil Re-refinery surpassed a significant milestone in safety performance. The workforce at the facility has accumulated over 2 million man hours without a lost time accident over a time span of more than 11 years. This is a remarkable achievement that is rarely reached in industry.
Breslau Refinery Manager Michael Puersten credits a safety conscious culture established at all levels and in all departments at the facility. “This has been a team effort,” says Michael. “A focus on safety has been incorporated by all employees into everyday tasks with people actively and routinely looking for ways to improve procedures and equipment to protect the safety of themselves and their fellow workers.”
What is more remarkable is that this safety milestone has been achieved while maintaining excellence in all areas of the Breslau operation, including reaching record production levels and demonstrating a high standard of quality through an ISO-9001:2000 certification.
